Our client, a leading investment manger is looking for someone to join their Edinburgh VAT team for a 6 month period to assist with compliance over a busy period. This opportunity will allow you to work with one of the biggest names in financial services on a well established VAT team.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Analysing revenue and expense data from various sources and providing to external advisors on a timely basis (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly and annually) to meet Global VAT/ GST and ESL filing deadlines
*Ensuring that VAT returns are signed and filed and any payments are made or repayments received by the due date
*Preparing balance sheet reconciliations for VAT accounts
*Booking journals in respect of VAT to the general ledger system
*Assisting colleagues with the preparation of the UK VAT Return
*Analysing data for completion of complex, multi-pot Partial Exemption calculation
*Undertaking analysis of VAT figures in general support of the VAT team for example to assist in answering VAT queries from external auditors, preparing VAT claims to HMRC, producing internal VAT budget data
*Assisting with admin and systems processes
Requirements
*Skills: VAT accounting experience
*Good understanding of VAT basic principles, including place of supply rules and liability
*In-house experience preferred
*Finance industry experience advantageous
